Burson-Marsteller Appoints Veena Raj as New Director and Media Strategist in its Global Consumer and Brand Marketing Practice

New York, May 22, 2012 – Burson-Marsteller, a leading public relations and communications firm, announced today that it has appointed Veena Raj as a new Director and Media Strategist in its Global Consumer and Brand Marketing Practice. Throughout her career, Raj has developed and implemented award-winning media strategy for major clients like Procter & Gamble, Kellogg’s, Moet-Hennessy USA and The Home Depot. Raj will be based in New York.

Most recently, Raj was Vice President of Media Relations at MSLGroup, where she counseled major brands on strategic media relations. She developed and implemented robust media strategies to support Procter & Gamble’s partnership with Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson for the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics, the 175th anniversary of Tiffany & Co., and the grand opening of Kellogg’s first retail store, Pop-Tarts World, in New York. Her media relations programs have garnered millions of impressions and top-tier placements for clients like Hennessy, Amstel Light, Walt Disney Co., The Home Depot and Outback Steakhouse. Raj also developed an agency-wide media relations training program.

Prior to joining MSLGroup, Raj was an Account Supervisor at Dan Klores Communications, a boutique public relations agency. At Dan Klores Communications, she served as the account lead providing strategic media relations counsel to clients in the health, hospitality, nonprofit and consumer industries. Her clients included The Carlton Hotel, St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan, Nespresso, PuntaCana Resort & Club, Ronald McDonald House and Rums of Puerto Rico, among others. She started her career at The Britto Agency, an entertainment public relations firm.

Raj received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and Spanish from The George Washington University.
