London, September 27, 2012 – Burson-Marsteller has hired one of the country’s leading integrated communications practitioners, Mike Love, as its new UK Chairman.
Building on his thirty year career in corporate communications and political campaigning Love, a previous winner of PR week’s PR professional of the Year award, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his first agency role having led communications with McDonald’s Europe, Microsoft EMEA, BT Global Services and G4S Cash Solutions following a first career in political campaign management which included five years as the political party agent to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
In his new role at B-M, Love will provide expert counsel to the firm’s clients, will work across all practices on pitches and new business, will support professional team development, and will play a key role with B-M’s industry-leading thought leadership offerings.
Love’s past roles have focused on driving business growth, developing brands, managing high profile crises and supporting three global business transformation and turnaround challenges. He has acted as an independent freelance consultant since leaving his last in-house role with G4S in March 2012 where he created a new strategic communications function for their global Cash Solutions business ahead of a corporate restructuring.
Welcoming Love’s arrival Matt Carter, B-M UK CEO, to whom Love will report, said:
“Mike is a huge gain for B-M. He has provided corporate counsel at the highest level, and across a range of sectors. He will offer our clients expert advice and trusted insights based on years of experience. His appointment to the role of Chairman with a roving brief to work across practices is a very practical example of B-M’s integrated communications offering.”
Mike Love commented:
“As an in-house communications director I hired more than twenty leading consultancies, so when it came to identifying the best place for me to launch my own agency-side career I had a very clear idea of the qualities I was looking for. Burson-Marsteller is the agency that fitted the bill, with both the most impressive client list and the highest calibre of people. The firm’s future ambitions for the UK office make this a very exciting time to be joining what is already a cutting-edge team. ”
