Keith Harmon, managing director of the media practice on the West Coast and a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner, has more than 30 years of combined experience as a journalist and public relations consultant.
Keith provides senior counsel to some of the agency's largest clients in areas including crisis communications, issues management, financial/corporate communications, mergers and acquisitions and media relations. He developed media strategy for 3Com Corporation's global brand marketing program, which centered around the Planet Project, a worldwide Internet poll. The Planet Project earned 1.5 billion media impressions.
His corporate communications experience includes such clients as Amazon.com, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, Gap Inc., ChevronTexaco, WellPoint Health Networks, TrizecHahn and Mandalay Resort Group. A veteran in issues management, he provided crisis counseling to such clients as First USA Bank, Monsanto, Mattel, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Stanford University Medical Center and the James Irvine Foundation.
During his 25 years as a journalist, Keith was an editor at the Los Angeles Times, where he shared three Pulitzer Prizes in five years for news coverage. He also was deputy managing editor of the Los Angeles Times-Washington Post News Service, where he worked closely with the top editors at nearly 600 newspapers.
Before joining Burson-Marsteller, Keith was a vice president of Publicis Dialog in San Francisco, where he worked on accounts ranging from healthcare to technology.
