Bill Zucker, a 15-year veteran of television journalism, is a senior media and issues strategist for Burson-Marsteller's Media Practice and heads the firm's Chicago office.
Bill prepares and executes media strategies for a variety of companies and industries in areas ranging from food to pharmaceutical. He is also a specialist in crisis management, handling issues including product liability, public accidents, food recalls, and class action litigation.
He leads B-M's partnership with Allstate on corporate reputation and he led the team working with the U.S. beef industry before and after the first case of BSE (mad cow disease) in the United States. Bill served as chief media strategist for a company seeking FDA approval of a controversial medical device and a major toy company facing issues over products made in China. Bill was named PR News Crisis Communicator of the Year in 2005 for his work.
As a media trainer, Bill has coached a wide-variety of clients including CEOs, scientists, financial advisors, doctors, registered dietitians and chefs to help them better understand how to communicate with reporters and editors. He has conducted intense interview simulations to prepare spokespersons for appearances on Dateline NBC, The Today Show and Good Morning America.
During his 15-year career as a journalist, Bill worked as a producer, reporter and newsroom executive at five television stations and one radia station. As Executive Producer at WBBM-TV, he launched the CBS station's first morning news broadcast. As a producer at WABC-TV, he produced the station's ongoing coverage of the crash of TWA Flight 800 off Long Island. And he was honored with an Emmy award for producing the WABC documentary "Return to Vietnam."
A native of Milwaukee, Bill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science at the University of Wisconsin. He lives near Chicago with his wife Debbie and their two children.
